Overview
Through this unique program, students majoring in all areas of Health, Sport and Exercise Science can gain an international perspective through the exploration of such issues as international sport marketing, facility and event management, and the socio-cultural issues of sport. Classroom lectures will be augmented by presentations from faculty of German institutions, as well as by field trips to local sports venues, organizations and associations, and clinics.
Academic Credit

HSES 598/798: Health, Sport, and Exercise Science in International Culture (3 credits)
This is an experiential study abroad course designed to allow students to explore their particular fields of interest within a foreign culture.
Eligibility
Open to undergraduate students from any accredited U.S. college or university. Minimum 2.5 GPA required (exceptions considered after submission of a petition).
Housing/Accommodation
Hostel
Students will stay in double occupancy rooms in a youth hostel or 2-star hotel. Breakfast is included.
Program Costs
Program fee: $3,650 ($3,850 for non-KU students).
Tuition and Fees: Estimated tuition and fees for 3 credit hours (based on standard tuition rate): $635. *
*Actual expenses for KU students will vary by the students individual tuition compact. Non-KU students will pay the standard tuition rate listed above.
Costs
Include: The fee includes accommodations, entrance fees, excursions, breakfasts, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation services, orientation, and administrative costs.
Estimated Additional Expenses: Airfare, most meals, books, personal expenses, passport fees, and extracurricular excursions.

Financial Aid
Yes.
KU students who qualify for summer financial aid in the form of Stafford and/or other loans, Pell or SEOG Grants, and scholarships may apply the aid to the cost of a Study Abroad Program.
Limited supplemental scholarships are available to KU undergraduates. Applications are available at the Office of Study Abroad. You can also download the scholarship application. The scholarship application deadline is March 1.
Non-KU students should contact their home institution for available financial aid.
