Overview
With courses ranging from 1 12 weeks, students can choose to study Italian language or History of Art, or follow a combined Italian and History of Art programme. We also offer courses in Life Drawing.
Italian language courses are designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced level students with classroom activity being directed towards building confidence in the spoken language. Materials used in class have an emphasis on the city of Florence to enable students to learn about the city, its culture and customs through the study of the language.
Housed in two magnificent buildings on either side of the River Arno in the heart of the historic centre of Florence and minutes from all of the citys legendary museums, galleries and churches, the British Institute has a long tradition of excellence in its teaching and offers students the opportunity of experiencing the life and culture of this unique city within the framework of a structured programme of study.

We can arrrange accommodation in a hotel, homestay or a student flat.Accommodation can usually be booked from the day before your course begins until the day after it ends.

Costs
Include: In addition to lessons students are entittled to weekly individual practice sessions with their Italian teacher. We also run caffθ e giornali sessions where students can discuss the daily news and practice speaking Italian over a coffee. The British Institute of Florence also has students of English and it is possible to arrange conversation exchange between Italian and English language groups.
Students have automatic membership of the Harold Acton Library. Many events are held in the library including lectures, concerts,films, exhibitions and public readings to which all students are welcome.
Dates
Our programme dates range throughout the year beginning from January until December. Courses range from 1-12 weeks and our Italian and History of Art programmes can be combined.
