Overview
A team of development workers, including social activists and ex-overseas and national volunteers founded Volunteer Society Nepal in 2002.From the early stages of development, Volunteer Society Nepal has been mobilizing international and local volunteers in various programs, providing relevant training and working experience in marginalized communities, and contributing to overall sustainable development efforts in Nepal. Additionally, Volunteer Society Nepal has developed a school building construction program to benefit some of these communities, which are often desperately lacking facilities.
VSN Nepal is also involved in supporting some of the more unfortunate children of the country, in an effort to improve their education and development at the grass roots level, by awarding scholarships and sponsorship for primary and secondary schools and strengthening community organizational capabilities. VSN Nepal has begun a concentrated effort to help develop the managerial and organizational capacities of local institutions, communities, and individuals, to increase the number of self-sustainable improvements through construction, health, environmental and education projects throughout economically disadvantaged areas of Nepal.
VSN Nepal continues to grow, and has currently developed a comprehensive program of providing basic health services, raising awareness on environmental and sanitation issues, and providing girls' scholarships and sponsorships in some needy areas of Nepal.
VSN Nepal Volunteer Programmes in Nepal offer a unique volunteering opportunity for individuals, couples, groups, students and experts, as well as senior and youth professionals from all over the world to make a contribution to Nepali society. At the same time volunteers experience the rich culture, natural splendour and daily life of Nepal, one of the most beautiful countries of the world.
The mission and objective of the VSN Nepal Volunteer Program in Nepal is to encourage and invite International/ National volunteers to contribute to community development, education development, as well as health and environmental activities of the Nepali people. Our programs in Nepal promote the volunteering opportunity in Nepal for individuals to build international links and mutual friendship, through a global partnership. It is our belief that through hard-work and positive thinking, we can all help to improve cultural tolerance and encourage world peace.
