Overview
Academic Treks College, a division of Broadreach, offers unparalleled study abroad opportunities for college students. Backed by fifteen years of experience in running educational programs abroad, ATC combines the finest elements of experiential learning, traditional classroom learning, and service learning with international travel and cultural exchange to provide extraordinary expeditions and study abroad opportunities.
Students can earn up to 3 credits in marine science through an experiential course which combines collecting data for the Saba Marine Park, learning about general marine biology, fish behavior, marine conservation efforts and future prospects whilst carrying out carrying out marine service projects.
Academic Treks College has teamed up with the world-renowned Saba Marine Park (SMP) to offer a one-of-a-kind program focusing on marine resource management and marine reserves, designed to safeguard marine environments while allowing for their sustainable use. Live in environmentally aware eco-lodges nestled in mountain rainforests and aboard 50 ft yachts. Island hopping between St. Barts, Statia and Saba, we explore, compare and contrast three very different marine reserves and their unique approaches to conservation, tourism, research and resource management. Learn Reef Check survey protocols used by marine scientists worldwide and discover pristine reefs, huge wrecks and amazing biodiversity.
