Overview
At Saifi Institute our motto is "learn Arabic from the ground up". We specialize in teaching you the Arabic you will use everyday while living in the Arab world. Because when you can use the language and see your progress on the streets in your everyday life, you will learn faster and remember what you've learned.

Arabic courses are offered for the novice learning to catch a taxi, and the fast talker who wants to learn how to read the newspaper. In addition to spending time in the classroom with students, all teachers at Saifi are involved in developing the unique Saifi curriculum called Pragmatic Arabic.

The primary curriculum taught at Saifi is a specialized new set of books written by Saifi teachers called "Pragmatic Arabic", however, Saifi does offer Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), mostly to students who wish to do research of authentic materials in their original language.

Pragmatic Arabic is meant to be a comprehensive Arabic course that can teach the absolute novice the ability to communicate effectively with Arabs in everyday situations. Because language schools divide Arabic between colloquial and MSA (and usually only MSA is taught in a systematic way) many students of Arabic find themselves with very limited practical skills. Either they can't speak if they've leaned MSA, or they can't read/write or become an advanced speak if they've learned Colloquial Arabic.

Pragmatic Arabic is structured around the real Arabic alphabets, both script (عربية) and the developing "Arabic Chat Alphabet" (3arabiyeh), and teaches the Arabic you use in day-to-day life. We do not teach useless transliteration or academic grammar (at least not until you really need it).

The curriculum progresses from learning basic survival/courtesy phrases and gaining a phonetic understanding of the Arabic script, to proficiency in social situations and comprehension of simple authentic documents (menus, forms, signs etc.), to work proficiency, and finaly to advanced comunicative flexibility in a variety of styles and circumstances... the same way that Arabs themselves use the language.
